Birthday Fever & Date..

So, times are hectic.

I am getting ready for the Presidents meeting this week, a trip to London on the weekend, my Birthday on Thursday and a date with Huy tomorrow night.

A Date with Huy??? WHAT!

Well its not really a date date, but more good friends going out to celebrate a birthday. He told me he wanted to spend money on someone, and I thought... thats ME!!!

He is taking me out to a nice restaurant for dinner, drinks and a movie. I told him to treat it as if it was a REAL date... but of course no holding hands or kissing. Something that his Maltese girlfriend in Czech Republic will be very happy.

MARIA HE IS ALL YOURS!! I PROMISE!!!

Anyway that is something fun to look forward too.

I am also eagerly awaiting a birthday box that my family have sent me from Australia. Each morning I come in and hope the post man will make footsteps towards my desk with a little birthday suprise.

No luck yet.

I am beginning to really love writing on my blog, I have to admit. It is ADDICTIVE! Mum is also very happy...

................Hmmm, I love this poem, and it also sums up my feeling at this exact moment. I just got off the phone with one of my closest friends, Bretto. He was a team mate with me on my MC term in AIESEC Australia, and someone I consider a life friend.

It was so good to hear his voice, and catch up on all each others gossip.

Its weird at the moment with my Danish MC term ending, I am really starting to think about the meaningful and non-meaningful relationships that I have formed through my time in AIESEC. I am starting to think, who will be close to me in my life beyond AIESEC.

Who will I continue to keep in touch with?

Who do I count on in times of trouble?

Who will I stay in touch and continue my relations with into my life?

I am so happy at the moment having talked to Bretto because he symbolizes what I have gained from AIESEC - some amazingly close personal friendships that will last a lifetime.

I am positively glowing at the thought of new and old friends, old and new wine....

Just another Manic Monday

Definately.

It is 8.25am and I have just arrived to the office. Actually I was awake at 4am with the sun shining brightly through my bedroom window... welcome to summer sun in Scandinavia. The good thing is the rain seems to have passed, which is wonderful.

Last night I started to realise that this week I am off for a fun LONDON Reunion weekend with close friends from the facilitators team at NMS: Lynsey, Katrijn, Susie, Janis, Tom are a few of them. I will be leaving Thursday night and going to Stansted airport, where I will meet Susie and stay at her house.

Then Friday we will go into central london to meet the others for the UK annual review, PWC Drinks, and Boat Party down the Thames river. It is supposed to be the highlight of the AIESEC UK year, and the guest list looks great with Arthur, Carey, Neicey as some of the Aussies attening of the 300 or so guests.

The rest of the weekend will be more sightseeing and looking around London. Also, I am going to have a mega catchup with Neicey and probably stay at her house one of the nights before coming back to Copenhagen on Sunday night.

I am SOOOO looking forward to getting away and a break from the hardcore transition and AIESEC agenda here in Denmark at the moment.... it will be good for the soul, thats for sure.

So this week I will be buying something to wear to the boat party.

Also It is my Birthday on Thursday, so another thing to look forward too. Huy is taking me out on Wednesday night for a nice dinner and movie to celebrate aswell, so that should be good..

Looks like this week should be a good one :-)

Weird Ass Welcomes...!!

So Today has been a very weird and funny day.

Both the old and the new teams have been in the office all day doing current reality and root problem organisational analysis... always fun.

But it has been especially funny in the last few hours when everyone has been getting more and more tired.

Lil pretty much passed out for a period on the floor. Maja and I ended up throwing a ball around with a homeless guy in front of the office, Pete has just been as random as ever, and we dared Diego to greet us at the front of the office on Monday morning singing the song 'Monday morning' with an Argentinian flag.

That of course started a discussion, that morning greetings should continue through transition... 'Weird Ass Welcome' tradion has started.

Talk about a totally weird day.... it is now 23.37 and we are all still here in the office...

Tomorrow is a day off.... HALLELULIAH!!!!!

Canada or India...??

Well, some exciting news.

I have made it to the final selection round for the Insititute of Education Traineeship in Montreal, Canada. I recieved an email today from the TN responsible, so that was very good news.

This is a traineeship I am really really interested in as it suits my personality, passion and future direction PERFECTLY!!!

It also is perfect timing for my masters program in Oz.

I am also looking at another option in India aswell, but more on that one later.

Its pretty weird imagining your life in two very different places.... well fingers crossed that I will know where I am going next very soon!!!

Fave People Day!!!

Today I was blessed with visits and chats with some of my favourite people....

First of all was coming to the office and seeing beautiful Bergios smile... what a way to start the day. Then of course seeing more happy faces entering the office --- Lilian, Diego, Pete, Søren, Mark, and Maja.

Then a call from one of my most fave people in my life ... GRANDMA. My grandma is a special person, so amazing. She is the light in a room when she enters it. A phone call with her and I am feeling so wonderful!!!! She is one of those people with so much life and vibrant personality. So I chatted with grandma for awhile - catching up on all the family goss and capers.

Then I met Lise, a close Danish friend... again another one of the inspirational influences in my life. Followed by a random visit from the UNIC gals - Maiken, Louise and Mathilde.

Mathilde had just gotten news that she had been accepted to study next semester in Australia aswell, so that was an exciting moment. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI!!!

All in all, it has been a wonderful day.... what a difference it makes when you spend it with people that light it up for you.

Lucky Gal

Well I have recently read the book 'Lucky Man' by Michael J Fox. Pete lent it to me as he is a huge MJF fan.

Anyway, I finished it within a day... it was amazing. It is about Michael J Fox's life and fight with Parkinsons disease, and it was personally touching me as my Pop developed this condition when he was in the late stages of his life.

One of the questions posed in the book, is the question that Michael had to face when he was diagnosed. That question being, You only have 10 more years you can work .... what do you do?

It really makes you stop and think... where am I going? What am I doing? and what life do I want to lead to make sure that I am maximising my time?

I started to think that if I was told the same sentence that I only had 10 working years left, what work would I do. I found out that maybe the answer would be different from the path that I am currently on, and what I currently view as important.

Anyway, it is definately a good book worth reading, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

ITC in Poland

At the end of March I facilitated at the AIESEC Internationals Trainers Conference (ITC) in Poznan, Poland. It was an amazing experience and I was working with some very cool individuals...Charlene, Shantanu, Szymon, Sifaan, Dey and a whole heap of others.

Transition Madness

Ok, I just checked Lils blog, and man is that gal effective. We are both in the same schedule and she is a post master... so I have decided I need to be more consistant in my postings...

Here is the first attempt.

SO, Times are busy.... BUSY BUSY BUSY.

The new team has arrived for transition, that means Lil (Australia) and Diego (Argentina), Maja (Denmark) and Søren (Denmark). It is hectic having them around but WONDERFUL at the same time. It is nice to have new faces and fresh blood in the office.

I am getting excited about next week which happens to be both my Birthday and also my trip to lovely London. I am going there to reunite with some close friends I made as a facilitator at NMS in Latvia this year.... Room 213 gals! I am so excited.... and it is great aswell because I will be able to catch up with other friends who will be in London that weekend for Annual review (www.uk.aiesec.org/annualreview)... Arthur and Denise especially.... GO AUSSIE POWER!!!

Now I have to just buy something to wear.... or find something for the Boat trip from a Danish member....

Maz, what are you plans post Denmark?

It seems that recently the most common question I get from those around me is what are my plans post AIESEC...

Maz, what will you be doing after your MC term?

Maz, will you go back to Australia?

Well, I have to admit the first thing that I am going to do is buy a TV. I have been living a life without it, and I miss crazily. I have realised that movies and television, are things that I love to have in my life.

BUT after that, I am hoping to do a short term traineeship before I head home to Sydney to do my masters in education with a focus on educational phsychology. There are two big options for me at the moment.

One is a traineeship that is located in Montreal, Canada and the other one is in India. It is sooooo difficult thinking about which one I prefer actually, because just when I start to get excited about one prospect and imagine my life in that place, then something happens to turn me back to the other option, and I have to re-imagine my life in that place...

It is totally weird.

But I hope to have a definate answer about which is my mext path within the next week.

One thing is for sure, I am definately going to get involved in theatre, television and acting as a side project in whatever I do... it is also an avenue in my life I am not ruling out...

I have joined the blogging movement.

Recently inspired by Tom, Jen, Anna, Lil, Loz and whole heap of other blogging friends, I have finally decided to be more communicative with the world.

HALLELULIAH... My family says!!!

After a year of requests on the msn and email for updates, I have finally decided to share what is happening in my life - without sending out mass emails... something I obviously suck at!

So, hopefully some of my thoughts and adventures will interest people here!!

Can't wait to share what is happening here in copenhagen and beyond!
